Our "Walk to School Wednesdays" program celebrates the Cherry Chase community by having students and their families walk, bike or scooter to school on Wednesdays. Remember if you live further away you can always drive a part of the way and walk the rest! It's good for your health, the environment and traffic safety around school. Here is what some Cherry Chase families have to say about "Walk to School Wednesdays": So far, we have only walked home, because we have trouble getting out the door on time in the morning! But we are enjoying our walk home. For one thing, it's easier than we thought--we aren't tired when we get home. I like the extra exercise in my day and the chance to look around the neighborhood and say hello to people instead of whizzing by them, sealed in our car. David is very interested in saving energy and not polluting, so he likes the "green" aspect of walking. I hope we can walk more once this rainy spell is over. Here is why I think more kids should walk to school: Kids in Elementary School have better chance of learning better ways. Walking helps them in learning to be active. We reduce usage of gas and also reduce the pollution. Kids are the future of this planet. Parents should talk to the kid while walking why it is important to keep this planet safe. This is the only home for us live. Parents while walking can talk to their child about anything and everything that may or may not be happening based on how busy their lives are. It hard to do the same while driving to school in 5 min. Thanks Fathima
Parking is terrible! So we in general walk. Mina
