Karen Souther Fifth Grade Professional: I was born and raised in the Bay Area, but moved to San Diego in 1994 to complete my BS at San Diego State University. I spent seven years helping run a small company that managed self-directed IRA’s. In January 2003 I decided it was time to get my teaching credential. It was something I had planned to do since I was in the 3rd grade. After completing my Teaching Credential at University of Phoenix in June 2004, I moved back to begin my teaching career. I taught summer school and 5th grade in the Moreland school district from June 2004 – July 2005 before switching to Sunnyvale School District. I recently received my Master's in Education. Personal: I love being back in the Bay Area and around my family again. I am the youngest of five. I have two brothers and two sisters. I am an Auntie to eight nieces and nephews, and I enjoy spending a lot of time with them. I spend my free time hiking, mountain biking, working out, reading, and spending time with my friends and family.
