Karenjit Sidhu
First Grade
I was born in India but grew up in the Central Valley on a grape farm with my parents, three sisters and two brothers. After high school, I attended C.S.U., Bakersfield and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. I went to U.O.P. in Stockton to pursue Pharmacy, but decided it was not what I wanted to do. I then went back to school to get a Single Subject Credential in Science and started to teach Math and Science at a Junior High in Delano. Over the past 11 years as a teacher, I have taught many different grade levels in Fremont and Porterville and have enjoyed my unique experiences in each and every classroom. It is my first year here at Cherry Chase and I am truly excited and optimistic about the year ahead.
When I have some free time, I enjoy reading books, going to the movies, shopping, eating at new places, hiking with my family, attempting to play tennis, and spending time with family and friends. Last year, I had taken up running to get in shape and am hoping I will find the time to continue that this year also. One of my goals for next year is to participate in the Annual Mud Run (Volkslauf) for Toys for Tots in Bakersfield. Each year I also go to either Lake Tahoe or Badger Pass to attempt skiing only to return bruised and no better at skiing than the previous year.
I would also like to one day (when my children-a boy and a girl--are a bit older) continue my education to pursue a Masters Degree and travel to different parts of the world. In the meantime, I am enjoying my new school and class and hope to have many awesome years here at Cherry Chase.
