Every week, homework will consist of the following elements:

1.  Reading Log:  First graders are required to read a minimum of 20 minutes every night.  Please monitor your child's daily reading by filling out the reading log and signing it daily.  Reading logs are to be returned every Monday with the homework.  If you need a blank reading log, please click here.

2.  Math & Phonics/Language Arts Practice Pages

4.  Science/Social Studies:  Science and Social Studies work will be included in only some homework packets.

5.  Nightly Decodable Book Practice

6.  Blue Book Bag Program:  This program will begin in October.  The bags will be distributed on Tuesday and need to be returned on the following Monday.

Ongoing weekly practice...

*Writing:  Please have your child practice his/her writing at least once a week.  The writing doesn't have to be turned in, but I definitely encourage your child to bring it in anytime he/she wants.  I will be sure to make time to have him/her read it to the class.  If you need blank writing paper, please click here (half sheet) or here (full sheet).

Note:  Please check your child's homework for accuracy and completion every week before sending it back to school.  If your child's homework comes back rushed through or incomplete, he/she will be expected to finish/correct it either at home or at school.
