Wanted: Budding meteorologist – to develop a proposal for a school weather station. Will need to include basic measurements for rainfall & temperature. Wanted: Mr. McGregor’s assistants – Note: Two (2) positions are open – must enjoy hoeing radishes, French beans and baby lettuce. Work in raised bed “veggie” garden and keep watch for Peter and his cousin, Benjamin Bunny. Disdain for snails a must! Wanted: Scarecrow – just like the one in Mr. MacGregor’s garden! Needs a light blue jacket, Tam O’Shanter and small shoes. Wanted: Apprentice – to learn the drips and tricks of a garden irrigation system. Learn from an expert! Experience with PVC pipe helpful, but not required. Wanted: Housing contractor for alternative housing – to build bean teepee & gourd tunnel for future inhabitants of school garden. Ability to sprout seedlings a plus, but not required. Wanted: Compost Quartet – A team of four or more, or a few families, sought to tend compost bins on a monthly basis. Turn, water and harvest compost that will nurture our garden.
Wanted: Critter Snack Bar Manager – to prepare and serve vegetable matter to red wriggler worms. Maintain optimal environment for vermi-composting. Harvest castings as needed. Wanted: Garden Historian – to dig into the past. Write a brief history of the school garden to post on the school website. You will help create a greater understanding and lasting appreciation of our school’s garden.
