GENERAL INFORMATION AND DATES:

 

• Field Trip - We have an exciting field trip planned to the Tech Museum of Innovation on Thursday, January 31. Please remember to send your child with a

sack lunch on that day.

 

• Teacher Learning Day is Tuesday, February 12.  Dismissal will be at 12:45.

 

• Feb 12 - PTA meeting at 7pm in the LRC (Library)

• Feb 18-22 - NO SCHOOL (Winter Break)

• Feb 29 - Muffins with Mom (7:45am)

 

Curriculum Update:

 

LANGUAGE ARTS:  We are completing our Camouflage unit. We will be taking

the next Reading Lions assessment shortly.  Next week, we begin the

most exciting unit of the year, Dinosaurs!

 

The students finished their research project and report on an animal.  Come by

and check out the “Proud Wall” where they are displayed. We also are

working on a “Monster Story” where each student develops his/her own unique

character, setting, and plot.  They are really enjoying this, and the

creativity is just flowing!

 

Next we will begin our dinosaur research project. While similar to the

Animal Report, this goes more in-depth, involving both an additional writing

component and more creative freedom. 

 

MATH: We are into Chapter 14 and working on two-digit subtraction. 

The class did very well with two-digit addition, so we should be able to

apply those skills to successfully work with subtraction.

home Evenhuis Bucks.  The site is: http://cherrychase.mathscore.com/

 

SCIENCE: We have started our Rocks and Minerals unit.  The kids

are very excited!  We will first look at the Earth and its layers.  Then we will

investigate soil, rocks, minerals and the formation of the plant’s surface to

understand how it was made.
