Heather DeBord Kindergarten I was born and raised in Sunnyvale and I’m very excited to be teaching at Cherry Chase since I am a former student. I have many fond memories of Cherry Chase and I’m so happy to now be here teaching! After graduating from Homestead High School, I went to DeAnza College and then transferred to UC Davis where I received my BA in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Services and a minor in Psychology. After graduating from college, I moved back to Sunnyvale and enrolled in the credential program at San José State University. While in the credential program, I student taught in a 3/4th grade combination class and a kindergarten class. After receiving my credential in 2005, I substituted in both the Sunnyvale and Santa Clara School Districts. In February of 2006 I took over for a teacher on maternity leave and began teaching first grade here at Cherry Chase. Then in September of 2006 I began my adventure as a kindergarten teacher here at Cherry Chase. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, swimming, going to Starbucks, and shopping.
